Europe Team Guidelines

Europe Team Guidelines

Key points:

  • Player evaluation from the previous calendar year and participation in the continent are required.
  • Approval of the player by the Challenge Cup “Global” Committee.
  • The player must reside in the continent and regional area where he represents the team.
  • Players must be registered in Europe
  • A team represents and is named after the region

Men & Women players MUST be the Player Rating (PRV) of the previous calendar year to participate and have played 360 Softball (Europe or Global) / USSSA. ALL managers and players MUST be approved by the Challenge Cup “Global” Committee.

Challenge Cup “Global” Committee consists of members from different continents who are part of the Global Program.

Player Rating (PVR):

MAJOR DIVISIONS – No player PRV restrictions

B DIVISIONS – PRV of B Elite or Lower

C DIVISIONS – PRV of C Elite or Lower

D DIVISIONS – PRV of D Elite or Lower

E DIVISIONS – PRV of E Elite or Lower

Players from a lower PVR may play upwards. However, players from a higher PVR may not play downwards.

According to the current player status in Europe, the SuperCup level corresponds to the PVR of D. EuroCup and PremierCup correspond to the PVR of E.

If a player is registered in the USSSA system and ranked higher than in Europe, the USSSA PRV shall be used, regardless of the category in which the player is ranked in Europe. The player may apply to USSSA for a reclassification.

Europe is divided into regions. At the Challenge Cup teams can represent the regions and may only field players who reside in that area. Teams are named after the region.

Names of Regions:
Europe Central, Europe East, Europe North, Europe South, Europe Southeast,
Europe Southwest, Europe West

1-2 players from a bordering region may be considered to help a region fill out their roster.  This type of player must either live within 40 km of the actual border, and/or have established playing history in the neighboring region.  Any such player must be approved by the Challenge Cup “Global” Committee in writing [email protected]

Any combination of regions must be approved in advance by December 1 of the previous year.  For regions to combine, this requires approval of the Challenge Cup “Global” Committee through email [email protected] by a team manager.
